We’re hoping as many Alston Moor residents as possible will respond to the consultation about the plans for Townfoot, the public realm element of the Townscape Heritage Project.
We have now completed on eight properties on the Front Street
You can read all about which ones they are and what happened to them. There are also historic photos of each property, what they looked like before the upgrade and what they look like now.
A ‘Gateway’ public realm scheme at Townfoot aims to help to give a much-needed boost to the local economy and increase business confidence, bringing more visitors into the town as well as encouraging residents to make more use of their local shops and town centre.
At the end of 2019, the Lottery funded Town Heritage Scheme generously awarded a sum of money for the purchase of a Thermal Image Camera to be used for the benefit of the Alston Moor Community under the guidance of the Alston Moor Partnership (AMP).
Properties work is progressing. We are looking to produce a document about improving old houses with draught-proofing, similar to that produced by Amble or Wooler, and also possibly investing in a thermal imaging camera for identifying cold spots, draughts etc.
