Anyone who lives or works on Alston Moor, or in the part of Northumberland which looks to Alston as a centre, is eligible to become a member of the Alston Moor Partnership through payment of a £3 lifetime fee. Members elect Directors at the Annual General Meeting, making sure there is a good spread of skills and wide representation.

Our remoteness and small community size mean that we do not fit easily into the conventional structures through which the work of government, county council and district council is delivered. We use our local strengths of determination and innovation to fill the gaps, finding ways to fulfil community aspirations.

We identify potential projects, seek out grant funding available, employ project workers and manage projects. Currently, the Townscape Heritage Project is renovating the shop fronts on Front Street. We hope to establish income-generating work to support a range of smaller projects on Alston Moor, from playgroups to supper clubs.
